NLP Coaching in Difficult Times

NLP Coaching: an exceptional method that can also be used to manage difficult times. The lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic was definitely one of the most difficult. As a Coach, I often found myself dealing with lost and scared people.

I'm not the kind of Coach who's obsessed with things like "think positive" or "find the silver lining", but I do embrace the concept of functionality.

I'm not interested in forcing people to find a positive side at all costs; I'm interested in helping those I serve think in terms of functionality. Instead of thinking in classic dichotomies like right or wrong, beautiful or ugly, good or bad, I prefer to think in terms of functional or dysfunctional.

NLP Coaching to change your point of view

One of the most interesting processes I've guided my Coachees through has been to explore what this lockdown has taught them. I've collected all the lessons my Coaching Clients have learned during these two months of forced confinement, summarized them, and then summarized them in 18 concepts. These 18 insights have emerged from the numerous Coaching sessions I've conducted over the past few months.

These aren't motivational quotes found online or uttered by unlikely gurus. These are real life lessons that people like you and me have learned through personal experience and then realized with the support of an NLP Coaching expert. Read these 18 insights and get inspired!

The 18 lessons

  • In life, it's crucial to persevere, especially when things get tough and we're asked to do something new or different than usual. Being resilient allows you to make a difference.
  • Relationships are one of the most important things, we need to be selective because not all the people around us deserve our attention and commitment.
  • Family is vitally important, let's make sure I can count on my family and their support.
  • Sometimes our plans fall through and external conditions force us to change our goals. We must be flexible enough to define new ones on which to direct our energies.
  • There are rules that must be respected for the good of oneself and the community.
  • Keeping an open mind makes you a better person, in every area of life.
  • When things get tough, it's crucial to always believe in what we're doing, in the fact that we will succeed by keeping our focus on the positive aspects of our lives.
  • Consistency is an indispensable tool for learning from our mistakes and consequently being able to grow and improve.
  • We must know how to listen to ourselves, accept our sensations, our feelings and take care of ourselves.
  • Routine often leads us to rush at a frenetic pace. We must remind ourselves of the importance of living in the present moment without constantly projecting ourselves into the future.
  • It's important to be aware of how fortunate we are, we should express sincere gratitude more often for all that we have.
  • Even when external conditions place severe limitations on me, I can always find something extremely useful to do, such as studying, training, learning to use new technologies, dedicating myself to introspection and self-understanding.
  • Sometimes it is necessary to give up something for the greater good, on the other hand, there are things we care about that we cannot neglect or sacrifice.
  • Putting events into perspective can be helpful in finding the right perspective and evaluating situations more objectively; for example, what are two months compared to a lifetime?
  • We often find ourselves faced with the belief that when faced with difficult choices, it takes a long time to find the solution. In reality, even difficult decisions can be made quickly, provided we clearly know who we are, what we want, and where we want to go.
  • Sometimes we escape from ourselves and seek the company of others. When we stop and reflect on who we are, we realize that we can be very happy in our own company. Once I can be happy with myself, I can be even better with others.
  • With the right commitment and confidence, I can transform a negative condition into something beneficial.
  • Venting anger and frustration on social media is pointless; in fact, it's harmful. It's much better to make an effort to be constructive.
