Time of good intentions

Max Spini - Mental Trainer Milan

Here we are. The end of the year has arrived, and with it, the time to set resolutions for the new year that is about to begin. With this article, I want to give you an idea of a goal that, in my opinion, is extremely important.

Very often, even though we know what we should or would like to do, we don't do it for a thousand reasons. One of these is summed up in the following sentence: "I don't want to sacrifice the time I dedicate to my family." This is completely understandable: we have a lot to do, time is scarce, and we care about our loved ones. Here I want to bring the discussion to another point of view. As I've already said, we all care about our families; many of the things we do every day are done precisely with a view to caring for our loved ones.

Another point of view

The perspective I want to draw your attention to in this case is that of the quality of time rather than its quantity. Answer this question:

Is it better to pass, let's say, 3 hours with your family with a discreet quality of the time spent together, or spend 2 and a half hours of high quality?

Note: there is no right or wrong in this case. It is something intimate and very subjective. Training in the race, for example, doing physical activity with constancy or, more generally, doing what we like to do, improves our mood thanks to the natural secretion of endorphins by our brain. It makes us feel better thanks to the pleasant sense of having done something for us. It gives us a healthy sense of pride.

Since it's time to define the good intentions, I invite you to reflect: if you are in a good mood, if you are better, the time spent with your family is of higher quality, you are more available, more attentive to the requests of those around you. Take care of ourselves helps us to improve the way we take care of others. A bit like on the plane, when they tell you that, in case of pressurization problems in the cabin, first we must make sure to wear our oxygen mask at best, and then to help our children wear theirs.

Do you really want to take care of your family? Start taking care of yourself or yourself.
