The goals of the sports mental coach

The Sports Mental Coach, working closely with different types of athletes, spends much of his time working on his clients' goals.
Goals that vary depending on the athlete's personality and choices, depending on the sporting discipline and the situation the client is experiencing.
Maybe there are important matches to prepare for, maybe the athlete needs to manage the pressure, or maybe he is recovering from an injury and needs emotional support.

The goals of the sports mental coach
As a sports mental trainer, my primary goal is always to provide athletes with the support they need. That said, I do have three goals that I always strive to address during my coaching journey: performance , results , and well-being .
Performance objective
The performance objective aims to help the athlete improve their performance, regardless of the outcome . If you're familiar with the well-formed objectives of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, we might talk about a process objective. Essentially, it involves focusing on what the client needs to do (and how) to achieve a performance they're satisfied with.
Outcome objective
Sports coaching undoubtedly places great importance on results. Results can be considered the yardstick for the success of a coaching program, although they are not the only parameter by which we should measure the quality of the program . Focusing exclusively on results without focusing on performance is equivalent to doing a job halfway. The quality of the performance is directly proportional to the quality of the result.
Well-being goal
The Sports Mental Coach has the duty to consider their Client not just as an athlete, but as a whole individual . This is why it's important to consider aspects of the personal sphere that we would overlook if we focused solely on the sports sphere.
The Sports Mental Coach and Goals: Conclusions
Managing emotions is important when an athlete takes to the track and in every challenge life presents. This will give them an extra tool to better manage themselves when things don't go according to plan (and we know this often happens in life).
For an athlete of any kind, self-confidence is crucial when facing important matches, but not only that, it is equally important to be able to remain solid when faced with the inevitable daily setbacks.
The ability to manage stress helps maintain a high level of performance and lead a life that is as balanced as possible.
Sport is a game, and it is only by considering the athlete as a human being in his entirety that the Sports Mental Coach will be able to help him build a fulfilling life .
