The benefits of sports coaching

I am a coach and that of sports coaching is certainly one of the areas that I like most. The number of sports coach is constantly increasing, as well as sports realities (both clubs and individual athletes) who choose to make use of a coach.
Is sports coaching really useful?
My answer is yes and it is obviously biased, in any case the benefits are indisputable and every athlete with whom I work is proof of this. Let's see together some of these numerous benefits:
Self-esteem: A good coach helps the athlete realize their strengths and how they can be further improved. We are our own harshest judges, so we tend to focus on what we can't do as well as we'd like and often overlook what we are good at. With the coach's help, the athlete increases their awareness of their ability to do many things well, thus positively nurturing their self-esteem and sense of self-efficacy.
Communication: Periodically expressing one's feelings about oneself and the outside world requires describing and verbalizing them, something that, unfortunately, is increasingly rare. Discussing one's emotions with the coach improves language skills and encourages the athlete to listen to themselves.
Self-analysis: Regular work with a coach encourages athletes to constantly monitor their progress, feelings, and well-being. This allows them to learn to listen more and more to themselves, not only physically but also emotionally. This is an often overlooked aspect, one that directly impacts both performance and the individual's psychological and physical well-being. This aspect is incredibly important for me, as I always tell my coaches, the real goal is for athletes to feel comfortable in their own skin, both on and off the field.
