Psychological Resilience: the 3 "C"

Some research in the sports field have led to identify the 3 main characteristics of athletes with psychological resilience . We can define these 3 characteristics as the 3 "c" of resilience.
Commitment, Control, Challenge
These 3 points are applicable in any context, not only in sport. Persons resilient in the professional or personal field have in fact in common these 3 characteristics.
Commitment means the ability to engage in what is done. Being able to feel pleasure in what we do thanks to passion.
With Control we intend to see oneself as capable of influencing our environment. In psychology we are talking about the internal locus of control: that is, being responsible for what happens to us . This allows us to be an active part of our destiny.
With Challenge we mean the ability to accept changes and to consider problems as challenges instead of obstacles.
Resilient people therefore have these 3 characteristics in common:
-
Commitment : they have the ability to commit themselves with passion and constancy
-
Control : they consider themselves responsible for their destiny
- Challenge : they accept change with positivity and open -mindedness
