Motivation? No thank you!

I am not intended to offer you yet another pappardella on the motivation or pretend to me to the motivator on duty. I am a coach and I argue that the only motivation that works is the one we find alone, within ourselves.

There is a question that I feel often: how can I find the motivation to do what I have to do? In other words it means: how can we do what we have to do when we don't want to do it?

I like to talk about things that I live on my skin , in fact I want to share with you a reflection that came to mind this morning when I got up very early to go to train. While I trained I made a reflection, I asked myself: how do I do the things I know I have to do when I don't want to?

I thought about it during training and I realized that I had a small and simple 3 -step strategy . Being a proponent of practical things I want to share it with you, I am sure that it can help you.

1st step

Surrendered! It may seem strange to you, yet it is so. Little by the fact that you have to do that thing. Thanks to this awareness, stop the mental processes that automatically trigger and that go to look for an excuse so as not to do what you need to do. In doing so, I have to turn into a I want.

2nd step

In programming neuro linguistic (PNL) we would talk about "chunking up", that is, from the particular we go to the general. In other words: what do you need to do, what role does this small card of your mosaic play in your great project? Take this small card and look at it in the large mosaic, in this way you can realize the importance it has.

3rd step

Here it is a question of making the opposite of the previous step. Wanting to continue using the technical language of the NLP, we speak in this case of "Chunking Down": from general to particular. After seeing your mosaic, return to the small card and dedicate yourself exclusively to it. All your concentration remains on the actions you take.

The next time you have to do something you don't want to do, but you know you have to do, try applying these 3 small steps. You will be able to find the motivation that will allow you to take action!
