How to improve concentration and self-control

Focus and Self-Control

The areas of the brain that regulate attention and those that govern self-control are the same. Our ability to concentrate is therefore closely linked to our ability to self-control.

This is good news, because it tells us that by strengthening these specific brain areas we are able to improve both our attention and our self-control.

Improve your ability to concentrate and you will see your self-control skills increase.

Two tips on what you can do:

  • Meditate : Meditation helps us concentrate. This practice focuses our attention on the present moment and teaches us not to get distracted by a constant stream of thoughts.
  • Set aside some time without distractions: no smartphones, no social networks, no chatting, no television… Set aside a period of time during which you will dedicate yourself to just one thing.

WARNING! I'm telling you right now, it won't be easy!

We are accustomed to living constantly in distractions, and as we have seen, this leads to the deterioration of self-control.

If you think about it, a distracted person with poor self-control is the perfect consumer .

We are literally inundated with distractions, which makes us more easily succumb to the lure of consumerism for its own sake.

Meditate and create time for yourself without distractions, and you will soon become a stronger and more aware person.
